pwset

Purpose

Sets the location of the password file for an Oracle ASM or database instance.

Syntax and Description

pwset { --asm  | --dbuniquename string } file_path

Table 10-15 lists the options for the pwset command.

Option	Description
`--asm`	The `--asm` option associates the password file with the Oracle ASM instance that ASMCMD is logged into.
`--dbuniquename` `string`	The `--dbuniquename` `string` option identifies the database unique name associated with the password file.
`file_path`	The `file_path` value identifies the location where the password file is located.

pwset sets the location of the password file for an Oracle ASM or database instance to the value specified by file_path. Either --dbuniquename or –-asm is required to identify a CRSD resource.

The SYSASM or SYSDBA privilege is required to manage the Oracle ASM and database password files.

Example

The following example sets the location of the Oracle ASM password file in a disk group.
